Scent: Confidence Without Evidence
Clark Stanley’s Snake Oil Candle: Version 1 of 3
Confidence Without Evidence
For the man who has never let a complete lack of qualifications interfere with a spectacular sales pitch.
Step right up and meet the patron saint of talking out of your ass with conviction. Clark Stanley was a cowboy-turned-showman who figured that if you wore the right hat, brought enough rattlesnakes, and spoke loudly enough, people might buy absolutely anything. He walked so the guy selling “financial freedom” from the passenger seat of his leased Lamborghini could run.
A real Clark Stanley fact: the 1893 World's Fair
In 1893, the self-proclaimed Rattlesnake King drew attention with his snake-oil act at Chicago’s World's Columbian Exposition. Live rattlesnakes, a dramatic demonstration, and the confidence of a man who knew nobody in the crowd had Google. Actual history. Not something we invented after two bourbons.
The Massachusetts connection: Stanley later operated a production facility in Beverly, Massachusetts. Sinscents is a Massachusetts company too. We skipped the reptiles and the medical claims. The accent is questionable enough.
The scent: Confidence Without Evidence
Warm cinnamon kicks the door open, vanilla smooths things over, brown sugar starts making promises, and sweet praline seals a deal you probably should have read first. A cozy, rich cinnamon-vanilla candle that makes your room smell like dessert while the person across from you explains how his new crypto venture “basically can't lose.”
Perfect for your confidently incorrect friend, your favorite armchair expert, or anyone whose resume should probably come with a fact-checker. We support their enthusiasm. From a safe distance.
Vessel: 9 oz amber apothecary-style candle. Vintage snake oil styling, real fragrance, no miraculous medical properties. This is satire, not medicine.
Collect the full three-version set
This is Version 1 of 3. Continue the beautifully questionable history with Version 2: Velvet Poison and Version 3: Sweet Venom, or explore all three Clark Stanley snake oil candles. Each version is sold separately. Cures nothing. Smells like we know what we’re doing.
Want the entire snake oil show? Shop Clark Stanley's Rattlesnake King 3-Candle Gift Set with all three versions for $89.99, saving $19.99 versus buying separately. Free standard U.S. shipping.
Burn it right
Keep the wick trimmed before each burn. On the first burn, let the melt pool reach the edge of the vessel when practical. Never leave a burning candle unattended, keep it away from drafts and anything flammable, and stop burning when about 1/2 inch of wax remains.
Shipping
Free standard U.S. shipping on every candle. Delivery estimates and applicable taxes are shown at checkout.
Your candle can smell incredible and have a questionable sense of humor. We see no reason to make you choose.
— OUR EXTREMELY SERIOUS BRAND PHILOSOPHY
We could’ve slapped “Live, Laugh, Love” on a jar. But then we’d have to live with ourselves.
— A STATEMENT FROM THE ART DEPARTMENT
Our sense of humor is questionable. Your checkout shouldn’t be. Shopify handles the payment. We handle the bad influence.
— THE DEPARTMENT OF ACTUAL RESPONSIBILITY
For the person who says “you shouldn’t have”—and, for once, means it. Still wants to know where you got it, though.
