Clark Stanley's Snake Oil Candle Series
Three versions. Three spectacular fragrances. One legendary bullshitter.
Welcome to the Sinscents tribute to Clark Stanley, the notorious Rattlesnake King who helped make snake oil a household expression for spectacularly confident nonsense. He even operated a production facility in Beverly, Massachusetts. We're a Massachusetts candle company, so naturally we thought: why let the rest of the country have all the questionable historical characters?
Our vintage-inspired snake oil candles trade miraculous cures for magnificent scents. Every one comes in a 9 oz amber apothecary-style jar with a black lid, and each carries its own chapter of the story. Nobody is curing rheumatism. The living room, however, is doing spectacularly well.
Meet the three versions
- Version 1: Confidence Without Evidence — warm cinnamon, vanilla, brown sugar and sweet praline. For people who have never let a lack of evidence slow down a terrific sales pitch.
- Version 2: Velvet Poison — rich vanilla bean, warm tonka, cocoa and sugared cream. Smooth enough to make a Victorian con artist blush.
- Version 3: Sweet Venom — juicy orchard apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and sweet vanilla. The sweet smell of getting away with it, until somebody checks the bottle.
